Event Details

Exposure to radon gas is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers and is responsible for over 1100 deaths in the UK every year. High levels of radon can be found in buildings of any type, size or location with occupants unaware of the potential danger unless a specific test has been carried out.

This year, we are encouraging action on radon with our Don’t Delay campaign. Did you know that lung cancer diagnosis and treatment pathways have been the most delayed of all cancers due to the COVID-19 pandemic? This is due to a number of factors including overlapping symptoms with COVID-19 and shared needs from respiratory medicine services.

During Radon Awareness Week 2021 we encourage you to:

  • Contact your GP if you’ve had a cough for more than three weeks
  • Learn more about radon and its health effects
  • Carry out a radon test in your home and workplace
